Ms. Udochi Iheanacho is the Founding Partner of the Law Firm of Udochi Iheanacho Partnership a leading Corporate and Commercial Law Firm with offices in Lagos Nigeria and Affiliate offices in Abuja, Port Harcourt and Aba Nigeria. She attended All Saints Primary School Ekulu Enugu where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate, Anglican Girl’s Grammar School Awkunanaw Enugu where she obtained her WASC and Federal School of Arts and Science Aba where she obtained her HSC. She graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in1983 with LLB (Hons) and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in1984. In1987, she obtained a Master of Laws degree (LL.M) from the University of Lagos. Ms. Udochi Iheanacho has extensive experience in Corporate and Commercial Law practice gained over the years starting from the beginning of her career at the Court of Appeal Kaduna where she served as a youth corper. Whilst in Kaduna she also worked with the firm of Asika & Co and later Emmanuel Toro & Co. After her youth service she joined the thriving Law firm of Abuka, Ajegbo, Ilogu and Nwaogu in September 1985, and to her credit was entrusted to set up and manage the firm’s Abuja office in January 1988. She left the firm of Abuka Ajegbo Ilogu and Nwaogu at the end of December 1988 to join International Merchant Bank (An affiliate of then First National Bank of Chicago). In the course of her work at the International Merchant Bank she received rigorous training both offshore and in Nigeria on Banking and International Finance Transactions and ancillary Financial Matters as practical on the job experience and training. She rose to be Head of the Legal and Investment Banking Department of International Merchant Bank Plc from1989 – 1991, handling and managing its staff pension/provident and other investment funds, risk asset management and recovery, negotiating and handling the documentation of investments by the World Bank and other International Institutions with respect to investments in Urban development, Infrastructure and Health systems in partnership with the Federal and State Governments and also on Corporate Finance Transactions. In July 1992 Udochi left the employment of International Merchant Bank (IMB) to set up the firm of Udochi Iheanacho Partnership that started structured operations in January 1993. She currently specializes in negotiating and documenting specialized and complex commercial transactions including financial agreements, development or construction contracts, supplier agreements, concession agreements joint venture agreements, other public – private partnership agreements and management contracts. Udochi thrives in the handling of Complex Commercial and Civil Litigation matters relevant to her practice and is reputed to be an outstanding Litigator. She also handles Arbitration and Mediation work expertly and with the benefit of her knowledge of the world of Business and Finance she is highly recommended as a Legal representative in the field. She regularly attends various local and International training courses so as to keep abreast with current developments and trends in continuing Legal Education in her areas of practice. Udochi is keenly interested in academic and practical research work and has written several articles and papers. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, a member and officer of the International Bar Association and sits on the Board of several companies.
